This senior capstone collection was fully conceived, designed, and executed as an independent body of work exploring identity, gender expression, and cultural symbolism. Five garments grounded in trend research and material experimentation, the collection investigates the intersection of masculine and feminine forms through structured textiles applied to traditionally feminine silhouettes. Color played a central narrative role, drawing from culturally significant hues in Chinese tradition to communicate hierarchy, emotion, and self-reflection. Through intentional patternmaking, draping, and fabric manipulation, the garments balance rigidity and fluidity—challenging conventional gender norms while preserving elegance and wearability. The collection was presented to a panel of judges and awarded Best Narrative Power for its conceptual clarity, material execution, and storytelling strength, highlighting the project’s ability to translate research and cultural meaning into cohesive, expressive design.
